Community Art Wall: Sandra Satenig Aghababian 1941-2021

Sandra loved art from a very early age and came from an artistic family. She graduated with a BA from the School of Fine & Applied Arts at Boston University and a MA in Education from Boston College.  Although she didn’t purse art as a career, she kept a home studio  and always had a painting in the works

She primarily worked in watercolor but she also worked in acrylic, oil, pencil, and gold leaf.

Her main influence was Armenian art, especially medieval manuscripts. Many of her paintings include a mythological creature that combines the body of a bird and the head of a human, known as a hushkaparik. Sandra considered these creatures a representation of the soul.
