Appointments and masks are required to pick up your materials!

The book drop at the main entrance will remain open!

Pickup Hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday:

10 am – 12:30 pm and 2 pm – 4 pm

Wednesday:

2 pm – 4 pm  and 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Saturday:

10 am – 12:00 pm

Visit our catalog to place holds on Bedford materials  – when you receive an email that your items are ready, go to Bedford Contact Free Pickup to schedule a contact-free inside curbside pickup. Just select an available time slot.

Call us at 781-275-9440 if you prefer to schedule your pickup over the phone.

Please arrive during your 30-minute window to get your materials. Items for pick up will be on tables in the large meeting room at the back of the building.  Access  the meeting room by going up the ramp from the parking lot on the high school side of the building.  Enter through the first door on the left.  Each pickup will be in paper bags labeled with your name (or library alias) and the last four numbers of your library card.  (Note: if you have set up an alias instead of your last name, please indicate this in the note field of the scheduling software).

All the items will be checked out to you so just grab and go!  We cannot do partial pick-ups. You must pick up all of the items that are on hold and available to you. If there is something in the bag that you no longer want please just drop it in the book return. 

If you have returns, the book drop next to the main doors is open. All materials will be quarantined for 72 hours. Please be patient with us as book returns are slower than normal. Most items will be off your card in about 7 days.

FAQs

I’ve just reserved a book, when can I come to pick it up?

You will be notified by email or phone when it is “Ready for Pickup.”  You can then schedule a convenient pickup time by going to Bedford Contact Free Pickup with your library card and pin. 

How long will it take to get my item?

If it is available in our library, you should be notified by email or phone in approximately 48 hours. We have limited hours and reduced staff in the building at this time so please be patient. For items in the Minuteman Library Network (MLN), delivery between libraries has resumed but many libraries are still going through a backlog of materials which may result in a delay or limited availability of placed holds.  

What if I miss my pick up time?

Weather permitting we may have the late pickup cart outside the meeting room if you miss your appointment time otherwise you would need to check inside within the posted pickup hours.  This is for the current day pickups only.  If you missed your pick up time and were not able to get to the library the same day, please give us a call at 781-275-9440 (Circulation Desk) to reschedule your pick up time. As rescheduling cannot be done online, you do need to call. If we do not hear from you after 7 days, and your items have not been picked up, they will be removed from your account.

When will my items be due?

There will be a due date receipt in the bag with your material.  We are not charging fines at this time.

May I pick up materials for other people?

Yes, please do. If multiple family members have items arriving at the same time please make one reservation and indicate all the names in the notes field. 

I have materials to return, where can I leave them?

You may return print (books and magazines) and AV items (movies, audiobooks, music, and computer games) in our book drop at any time.  All materials will be quarantined for 3 days.  The material will be checked in after the quarantine period ends. Please note that due to limited staffing, items may be delayed in being checked in even after the quarantine period.  No fines are being charged at this time.

For Library of Things items and other materials that won’t fit in the book drop, please call us at 781-275-9440 to let us know when you will arrive with your items. These items may only be returned when the staff is in the building (M, T, Th, F 9-5, and Wednesdays from 1-8).

Can I come into the Library to browse or use the public computers?

For health and safety reasons, we are not able to welcome you into the building at this time.

It is our goal to help you in any way we can.  We can do research and print documents – just give us a call.
