It’s a fully digital version of the Homeschool Book Club! If you consider yourself a homeschooler (either typically or temporarily), please consider yourself warmly invited to join the conversation. We’ll be using Zoom for this discussion.
The ages listed for the two discussion groups are approximate. You are welcome to join the discussion that best fits your interests and reading abilities. Both groups meet from 10:30-11:30am.
|Younger: ages 8-11 (Led by Bethany)
Guts, by Raina Telgemeier
Raina wakes up one night with a terrible upset stomach. Her mom has one, too, so it’s probably just a bug. Raina eventually returns to school, where she’s dealing with the usual highs and lows: friends, not-friends, and classmates who think the school year is just one long gross-out session. It soon becomes clear that Raina’s tummy trouble isn’t going away… and it coincides with her worries about food, school, and changing friendships. What’s going on?
|Older: ages 12+ (Led by Pam)
Truly Devious, by Maureen Johnson (available on hoopla)
When Stevie Bell, an amateur detective, begins her first year at a famous private school in Vermont, she sets a plan to solve the cold case involving the kidnapping of the founder’s wife and daughter shortly after the school opened.
