Some general information about exhibiting:
There are many ways you can submit your
work.
1. Mail in slides or photographs
accompanied by the application form
2. Call or email the Library
Director to make an appointment to present examples of your work. It
is best to have in mind two or three alternate times to meet so that
a member of the Art Steering Committee is available to view the
material.
Complete the
Application to Exhibit.
Please be sure to sign it so that the Library knows you fully
understand the terms of the agreement.
Please
indicate on the application the easiest way to contact you.
Additional information you need to know
should your work be selected for exhibition:
? Please
submit a short “Artist Statement” (a paragraph is fine) describing
how you would define your work and sources of inspiration. You might
include influences, highlights, artistic methods, participation in
organizations, other shows, or art classes, etc. We need this
paragraph about six weeks before your work is hung in the Library for
brochures and press releases.
? Once
we have determined which pieces will be included in the show, we need
to have a label with the title and medium used, and if possible, a
sentence or phrase about the work (where you were, what caught your
eye, how the piece evolved, etc.) Please, do not
put prices on your work. You may submit a separate sheet
listing each piece in the exhibit and a price. This sheet can be
made available to the public should anyone inquire about purchasing
your work.
? Please
include dates you are available to help hang the show. There is no
space available at the library for storing work so plan accordingly.
? When
there is a group show with a large number of pieces to display, last
minute changes to the exhibit may occur. Again, plan accordingly.
