The Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library is a non-profit organization that sponsors library programs, augments library services and facilities, and supports requests for additional collection acquisitions through grant requests from the Library Director. Some of the Friends activities are:
hold at least two book sales each year.
maintain the book carts in the library that sell used books, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and audiobooks.
created and now maintain the new Children's Book Store to the right of the Circulation desk beneath the stairs as well as maintain the book alcove beside the Circulation desk.
gratefully accept donations of used books year-round anytime during library hours. Donations are tax deductible!
provide museum passes, children and adult programming, movie acquisitions and film nights, Skinner Appraisal event, and much more.
Donations of used books, patronage of our book sales and book carts and participation in this organization make superior library programming possible.
Friends’ funding comes primarily from membership and Book Sales as well as through sales of donated books from a cart located on the library’s gallery level and in the Book Corner on the first floor. The Friends welcome donations of books in good condition throughout the year. Some books become part of the library’s circulating collection; some are displayed for immediate sale on our book carts, and others are held for our book sales.
