The
Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library, chartered in 1961, is an
association of library users from Bedford and surrounding communities. The
Friends are committed to focusing public attention on the library’s services,
facilities and needs, as well as encouraging gifts of books, endowments and
bequests to the library.
Friends’ funding comes primarily from membership and
Book
Sales as well as through sales of donated books from a cart located on the
library’s gallery level and in the Book Corner on the first floor. Thanks to generous donations of books from
the community, book sales are held several times each year. The Friends welcome donations of books in
good condition throughout the year.
Some books become part of the library’s circulating collection; some are
displayed for immediate sale on our book carts, and others are held for our
book sales.
What
do the funds raised by the Friends support?
Volunteer opportunities abound within the
Friends’ organization. There are
opportunities to help with hospitality during library events, plan and publicize Friends’ programs, help
with book sales, and serve on the Friends’ board.
If you are interested in becoming a member, print
out the
Membership
Form (click here) and mail it in or drop it off at the library.
The
Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library is a 501 (c) (3) organization.
